Clearing the Pit Area

This past week work began on clearing the pit area to make more parking and easier parking. Anyone that has visited the drag strip, formerly South Mountain Dragway, knows the pit area by the shut down curve was covered with random trees that made parking trailers nearly impossible. Here are some pictures to show the progress.
This first picture is taken from the top of the curve in the shut down area. By removing a lot of the trees we are able to offer a better parking lot and better visibility of the track for visitors and racers in the pit area.

The second picture is showing a different view of the same area pf the pits. On the right of the picture you can see the old ticket booth at the back entrance. Several trees have been cleared out of the area behind the ticket booth. A few trees will be left for shade at different locations, but over all a larger parking area has been created.

The third picture is taken from the tower overlooking the starting line. The guard rails are being removed and new barriers are being installed to provide safety for visitors and racers.

Our goal at Quarter Aces Drag-o-Way is to offer an improved track with family appeal. We want to keep the vintage aspects of the small town track along with adding new features that both new comers and old timers will appreciate.

The 2008 race season will be exciting, big news is on the horizon, check back often to see what's happening!!!!
